The Raiders signed Gaither and placed linebacker Travis Goethel on season-ending injured reserve.||||||| Gaither has played in 77 games with 40 starts over six combined seasons with Philadelphia and Carolina. He spent training camp this summer with Houston.

Gaither has been diagnosed with a sprained MCL and will be sidelined 2-to-4 weeks.||||||| Gaither was making his first start Sunday. He had two tackles.

Gaither has signed a one-year contract to return to the Philadelphia Eagles.||||||| Team officials announced that Gaither signed his tender offer on Wednesday. The 26-year-old Gaither started the first three games of last season at middle linebacker, but was benched in favor of Jeremiah Trotter in Week 5. He suffered a season-ending foot injury the next week against the Raiders.

Eagles coach Andy Reid says Gaither will have surgery on his left foot and will miss the rest of the season. Gaither suffered the injury during Sunday's loss to the Oakland Raiders.||||||| He is the second Eagles middle linebacker to be lost for the season - Stewart Bradley was placed on injured reserve after tearing an ACL in a preseason scrimmage.

Gaither has taken over for Joe Mays as the Philadelphia Eagles' starting middle linebacker. He was the starter in 2007, but Stewart Bradley took over last season. Bradley is out for the season with a torn ACL.||||||| Gaither had been bothered by a sore knee throughout training camp, but returned to practice on a limited basis last week and was out with the starting unit at practice Sunday. He will remain in that role leading up to the season opener Sept. 13 at Carolina.
