Roach is the second linebacker signed by Oakland this week, following a three-year, $6 million deal given to Kaluka Maiava on Wednesday. Roach is expected to replace former first-round pick Rolando McClain as the starter in the middle.
Roach appears to be drawing interest from other teams. Roach's agent Josh Wright declined comment on the status of negotiations with the Bears, but said six teams had called as of Saturday afternoon.|||||||
Roach has mostly played strong side linebacker during his six seasons with the Bears, but has also seen time in the middle.

Roach started 15 of 16 games last season for Chicago with 12 starts at strong side and three in the middle. The former Northwestern star had career highs in tackles (82), tackles for losses (10), forced fumbles (three) and sacks (two). He also recoverd a fumble.
The Chicago Bears re-signed Roach, an exclusive rights free agent, on Monday.|||||||
Roach, who started nine games and appeared in 14 overall, was credited with 25 solo tackles and 15 assists last season. He went undrafted out of Northwestern in 2006 and spent the first 11 weeks on the San Diego Chargers' practice squad as a rookie in 2007 before joining the Bears in late November. He appeared in the final three games that year and recorded five special teams tackles.
