The 49ers advanced to the Super Bowl on Sunday with a win over Atlanta. Suh was initially selected as an alternate. He becomes the third Detroit player picked for the Pro Bowl, the team's most since also having three selected to the 2005 game. Suh, wide receiver Calvin Johnson and long snapper Don Muhlbach are on this year's team. Johnson was selected as a starter but is not expected to play.
Suh was fined $30,000 by the NFL on Wednesday, but says he didn't kick Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub on purpose. That's why Suh insisted he doesn't need to apologize to Schaub.|||||||
Suh spoke to reporters Wednesday for the first time since his left cleat connected with Schaub's groin area in Detroit's loss to Houston last Thursday. Suh has dodged another suspension from the league for his latest questionable move on the field.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell says it's very difficult for the league to judge whether Suh intended to kick Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub in the groin area. Suh was on his chest after being taken down by an offensive lineman last Thursday and extended his left foot to hit Schaub below the belt.|||||||
Goodell met with reporters before speaking at a Lions charity event Tuesday night, a day after the league decided it wouldn't suspend Suh. Goodell says he hasn't spoken to Suh about the play but that the league's football operations staff is in the process of speaking to the player about it. Goodell says the league will decide whether Suh will be fined within the next few days.

Police Chief William Armstrong tells The Associated Press on Tuesday he's not sure the citation will hold up. Armstrong says he watched video footage of Suh's driving that day and thinks "the charge doesn't fit." Suh has been sued for $1 million by a woman who claims she was injured when Suh was in a car crash last December in Portland, Ore., and he was accused of sideswiping another driver in suburban Dearborn earlier this year.
The NFL has decided not to suspend Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh for his actions against Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub. League spokesman Greg Aiello announced the decision Monday on his Twitter account, adding the "incident" will be reviewed for a potential fine.|||||||
