Wilkerson played every defensive snap against the Chargers, and the team says he showed no symptoms of a concussion until after the game, and was tested. He'll continue to undergo tests this week.

After Mario Manningham's 7-yard catch with 8:37 left in the third quarter, Wilkerson and Jacobs shoved each other. The two yelled at each other several yards away from where Manningham caught the pass as players from both teams rushed over to separate Jacobs and Wilkerson before things escalated.

The 6-foot-4 1/2, 305-pound Wilkerson had 9 1/2 sacks last year for the Owls, and should immediately help the Jets, who have made it to the AFC championship game the last two seasons. "I don't see him as a nose tackle, but this young man can play defensive end in our system and (defensive) tackle as well," said coach Rex Ryan, who recently authored a book about himself. "I see him as a possible three-down contributor for us. We'll see."
