Holland has signed a two-year contract to stay with the Dallas Cowboys after being inactive for all 16 regular-season games last season.||||||| Holland started only two of the eight games he played in 2008 after the Cowboys acquired him from Denver just before that season started. The signing announced Monday takes care of the only remaining unrestricted free agent for the Cowboys, who last month cut five-time Pro Bowl left tackle Flozell Adams.

The Dallas Cowboys acquired guard Montrae Holland from the Denver Broncos on Thursday for a future draft pick. Dallas released cornerback Tyler Everett to make room on its roster.||||||| Holland, who started all 16 games at right guard for the Broncos last season, could play left guard in Dallas for injured starter Kyle Kosier, who could miss the first month of the regular season with an injured right foot. Holland was a fourth-round choice of New Orleans in the 2003 draft. He played four seasons with the Saints, starting 30 of 52 games, before signing last year with Denver as an unrestricted free agent.

Holland, who spent the first two weeks of camp pushing sleds on an adjacent field after reporting out of shape and overweight, practiced for the first time Monday after getting down to his playing weight of about 325 pounds.||||||| Holland worked with the second team offensive line but fully anticipates he'll regain his starting job by the time the season starts. "I'm a starter in my heart and I'm going to do everything I can to get there," said Holland, who started all 16 games at right guard a year ago. "Any time you miss two weeks of camp, you miss development and timing. Right now mine's is a little off. At least now we're practicing, so all I can do is get better."
