The Cincinnati Bengals have re-signed place kicker Mike Nugent for two years, preventing him from becoming a free agent. No terms of the deal were announced Sunday.||||||| A nine-year veteran, Nugent has been with the Bengals for three seasons. A calf injury kept him out of the team's last four games of 2012 and its playoff loss to Houston. In 2011, Nugent set a Bengals records for points with 132 and field goals with 33 in one season. He tied a Cincinnati record with a 55-yard field goal against Oakland last season. Nugent has made 83.8 percent of his field goals as a Bengal, the second-best career percentage in club history.

Nugent signed his one-year tender offer as the Cincinnati Bengals' franchise player on Wednesday.||||||| Nugent recovered from knee surgery and set team records with 132 points and 33 field goals last season, helping the Bengals to a wild card playoff spot. He was an unrestricted free agent after the season, but the Bengals used their franchise tag on him March 2.

Nugent was lost for the season after tearing a knee ligament during a successful onside kick play in the closing minutes of Sunday's 23-17 loss at Indianapolis.||||||| The Bengals have signed former Ohio State University kicker Aaron Pettrey to replace another former Buckeye.

Nugent was named the Bengals' kicker Saturday.||||||| The Bengals waived kicker Dave Rayner on Saturday, giving the job to Nugent. He replaces Shayne Graham, who left as a free agent after seven seasons in Cincinnati. Nugent was bothered by a groin injury early in camp but went 3 of 4 on field goal attempts, including two from beyond 50 yards.
