Turner was released Friday by the Falcons.||||||| This is not a surprise, considering Turner's production continued to decline and team might be ready to give versatile Jacquizz Rodgers a larger role. It also will save the team money. The bruising back rushed for 1,699 yards his first season in town and more than 1,300 yards two other years.

Turner limped off the field of Sunday's NFC title game against San Francisco in the third quarter with a sprained ankle. His return was questionable.||||||| Turner had eight rushes for 30 yards when he was hurt. It appeared he aggravated the ankle on a 3-yard run with Atlanta leading 24-21. Jacquizz Rodgers replaced Turner as the primary running back, but Jason Snelling was taking handoffs, too.

Turner had a touchdown, but finished with just 18 yards on six carries in the Falcons' loss to Tampa Bay on Sunday.||||||| He finished with just 800 yards on the season, with only two 100-yard rushing efforts.

Turner carried 13 times for 41 yards in Saturday's 31-18 win at Detroit.||||||| Turner has 782 yards and nine scores in a subpar year. The Falcons have nothing to play for next week against the Bucs so monitor the situation closely.

Turner ran 16 times for 52 yards and a touchdown on Sunday against the Giants.||||||| Turner is must-start if not solely for his scoring abilities. He's run for a touchdown in five straight games, totaling nine on the season.
