The New England Patriots have signed free agent wide receiver Michael Jenkins.|||||||
In his ninth season, Jenkins caught 40 passes for 447 yards and two touchdowns with the Minnesota Vikings last year. He joined them in 2011 after seven seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, who drafted him in the first round in 2004 out of Ohio State.
The Minnesota Vikings have released Jenkins.|||||||
Jenkins played two seasons of the three-year contract he signed with the Vikings after the lockout ended in 2011. He was due a roster bonus of $2.425 million on March 16 and a base salary of $825,000 for 2013.

Jenkins has an as yet unspecified knee injury. Jenkins was in his first year with the Vikings after coming over from Atlanta in the offseason. He caught 38 passes for 466 yards and three touchdowns and developed an early chemistry with rookie quarterback Christian Ponder.

The Atlanta Falcons have released defensive end Jamaal Anderson and receiver Michael Jenkins. The Falcons announced the moves Friday, the opening day of training camp. By cutting the former first-round draft picks, the team clears $7.8 million under the salary cap.|||||||
Jenkins was drafted 29th overall by the Falcons in 2004. He spent most of his career as a starter but became expendable when Atlanta traded up to draft Julio Jones this year. Last season, Jenkins had 41 receptions for 505 yards and two touchdowns.
