The Baltimore Ravens agreed to a three-year deal with Huff.|||||||
Huff started all 16 games for Oakland last season - 14 at cornerback and two at free safety. He had 71 tackles and two interceptions. He has 11 career interceptions and 453 tackles in 108 games.
The Oakland Raiders have cut ties with two former first-round picks by releasing starting receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey and Huff.|||||||
While Heyward-Bey has been mostly a disappointment in his career, the move to get rid of Huff comes as some surprise since he was the team's most consistent defensive back last season playing both cornerback and safety.
After a rough adjustment when he first made the move from safety to cornerback for the Oakland Raiders, Huff is now starting to feel right at home at his new position.|||||||
Huff has provided lock-down coverage on the outside the past few weeks to bolster a banged-up secondary. With injured starter Ron Bartell returning to practice on Wednesday and targeting a return to the field next Sunday, the Raiders will have to decide whether to keep Huff at his new home or move him back to safety.
Huff practiced Wednesday after missing the past two games with a hamstring injury.|||||||
Oakland needs to win Sunday against San Diego and get some help to make the playoffs.
The Oakland Raiders have re-signed another of their free agents, completing a deal with free safety Michael Huff. Huff signed his contract Sunday and reported to the team's training camp in Napa. He can't practice until Thursday.|||||||
Huff was the seventh overall pick by the Raiders in the 2006 draft. He struggled his first few years but played his best football last season at free safety. His return means last year's leading tackler, Tyvon Branch, can remain at strong safety. Huff is the fifth free agent who has returned to the Raiders since the end of the lockout. Oakland also signed eight of its potential free agents before the lockout.
