The Chicago Bears have placed Bush on season-ending injured reserve because of a rib injury and signed Kahlil Bell to take his place.|||||||
Losing Bush is another blow for the struggling Bears. They've dropped five of six after a 7-1 start and are coming off a loss to Green Bay that clinched the NFC North for the Packers. Signed to a four-year deal to give the Bears depth in the backfield with Matt Forte, Bush appeared in 13 games and ran for 411 yards and five touchdowns. Bell was waived by Chicago in October.
While starting in place of the injured Matt Forte, Bush had 55 yards on 18 carries and scored the game's only offensive touchdown in the Bears' 23-6 victory over the St. Louis Rams on Sunday.|||||||
It's unknown if Bush will get another start. The Bears were hoping Forte would practice this week. "Eventually we'll get (Forte) back out there," coach Lovie Smith said. "Exactly when, I don't know that right now. I just know every day I see him doing a little bit more so I'm hopeful."
The Chicago Bears have agreed to a four-year contract with Bush.|||||||
Bush will join Matt Forte, who got a franchise tag from the Bears, in Chicago's backfield. Bush played four seasons for the Oakland Raiders, gaining 2,642 yards (4.2 yards per carry) and scoring 21 touchdowns. The powerful 245-pound back had his most productive season in 2011, setting career highs in rushes (256), yards (977), touchdowns (7), receptions (37) and yards receiving (418).
Bush ran 23 times for 70 yards and caught two passes for 24 in Saturday's 16-13 OT win at Kansas City.|||||||
With Darren McFadden showing no signs of returning, Bush will likely start a do-or-die Week 17 matchup with state rival San Diego.
Bush carried the ball 30 times for 109 yards and a TD during Sunday's 27-21 at Minnesota.|||||||
Bush has been tremendous in filling for the injured Darren McFadden, compiling 461 rushing yards and two scores over the last four games. He, however, could return to his backup role if McFadden is healthy enough to go in Week 12.
