Maurkice Pouncey injured his right leg on the Steelers' first offensive play from scrimmage against Tennessee on Thursday night. His return originally was called questionable before the Steelers decided he wouldn't return.|||||||
Pouncey was blocking when it appeared that right tackle Marcus Gilbert rolled up on his leg. Pouncey sat on the ground before going to the sideline. He was replaced by Doug Legursky.

Pouncey, a Pro Bowler as a rookie last season, left practice early Thursday with the elbow injury. He has started all six games this season, but was forced to leave some games early with ankle and knee injuries. Starting guard Doug Legursky is normally the backup center, but he will not play against the Cardinals because of a toe injury. That would have left center to Trai Essex if Pouncey could not play.
Pouncey has been ruled out of the Super Bowl with a high left ankle sprain.|||||||
The rookie Pro Bowl selection sprained the ankle in the AFC championship game and has not practiced since. Backup Doug Legursky will play in his place Sunday, in what will be his first NFL start as a center.
