The Steelers signed the free agent tight end on Monday, reuniting Spaeth with the club that selected him in the third round of the 2007 NFL Draft.|||||||
The 29-year-old Spaeth spent his first four seasons with the Steelers before moving on to Chicago, where he caught just 13 passes for 78 yards and three touchdowns in 31 games.

Spaeth appeared in 91 games, including 56 starts, in six NFL seasons with Pittsburgh (2007-10) and Chicago (2011-12). He has 49 catches for 353 yards and eight touchdowns in his career.
NFL Network reported Thursday that the Chicago Bears have agreed to a contract with Pittsburgh Steelers free agent tight end Matt Spaeth. He would replace Brandon Manumaleuna, who was released.|||||||
The 6-foot-7, 270-pound Spaeth is cut from a similar mold as Manumaleuna. He's known more for his blocking, an area where the Bears could use help. Spaeth has never caught more than 17 passes in a season and had nine receptions for 80 yards in 14 games last year - his fourth with the Steelers. His agent, Neil Cornrich, did not return messages seeking comment.
Spaeth signed a one-year tender with the Steelers on Friday.|||||||
Spaeth will enter his fourth year with the Steelers after being drafted in the third round in 2007 out of Minnesota. He has 27 receptions for 195 yards and four touchdowns.
Spaeth, who has missed two games with a bruised quadriceps, is expected back Sunday against Seattle.|||||||
The rookie tight end caught three passes for 15 yards and two touchdowns in two games before the injury.
