The Chicago Bears and former New York Jets guard Slauson have agreed to a 1-year contract. The team announced the deal on Friday.|||||||
Bears General Manager Phil Emery says Slauson's size and strength will make him a challenger for a starting guard position. Slauson, 6-5, 315-pounds, started 48 of 51 games with the Jets. New York drafted him out of Nebraska in 2009. Last season he didn't allow any sacks. Slauson was listed on New York's injury report with a knee injury last season.
A person familiar with the situation says Slauson has been fined $10,000 by the NFL for his season-ending block on Houston linebacker Brian Cushing.|||||||
Slauson rolled into Cushing, who tore his left anterior cruciate ligament in the second quarter of the Texans' 23-17 win Monday night. Cushing was placed on injured reserve Wednesday.
