Moore has signed a two-year contract to remain with the Miami Dolphins as a backup rather than testing free agency next week and pursuing a possible starting job.|||||||
Moore was beaten out for Miami's No. 1 job last summer by rookie Ryan Tannehill and played in only two games off the bench. The five-year veteran started 12 games for the Dolphins in 2011 and had his best season, throwing for 2,497 yards and 16 touchdowns with nine interceptions.
Though Ryan Tannehill is practicing on a limited basis after leaving Sunday's victory over the New York Jets in the first quarter with left knee and thigh injuries, Moore took the snaps with the starters at the beginning of team drills.|||||||
Moore went 11 for 19 against the Jets for 131 yards and a score.

First-year coach Joe Philbin called the quarterback battle "a fluid situation" and said there was no guarantee Garrard would get the start in Friday's preseason opener against Tampa Bay. Moore started the last 12 games for Miami (No. 27 in the AP Pro32) in 2011 and went 6-3 over the last nine weeks, compiling an impressive 97.8 passer rating during that span.
