Flynn, a backup in college at LSU to former Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell, has started just two games in five seasons as a pro. But it's those brief appearances that intrigue many NFL teams. He threw for 251 yards and three touchdowns in a loss at New England in place of an injured Aaron Rodgers late in the 2010 season. He then started the regular-season finale the following season, going 31 for 44 for 480 yards and six touchdown passes in a 45-41 win over D
Flynn will be the Seattle backup to rookie Russell Wilson after Seahawks coach Pete Carroll announced that Wilson will start the club's opener. Wilson being named the starter leaves Flynn on the sidelines and according to Carroll understandably disappointed.|||||||
Flynn was Seattle's big free-agent splash in the offseason and the most highly sought after quarterback not named Manning after spending the last few seasons as Aaron Rodgers backup in Green Bay. But Flynn failed to show the same flashes as Wilson during his two preseason opportunities and sat out the game in Kansas City with a sore elbow. Fantasy owners have to be kicking themselves now if they picked up the overhyped Flynn.
