The Raiders acquired Seattle backup Matt Flynn on Monday for draft picks, bringing an end to Carson Palmer's brief tenure as starter in Oakland even before they are done paying the steep price they dealt to acquire him.||||||| Flynn, a backup in college at LSU to former Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell, has started just two games in five seasons as a pro. But it's those brief appearances that intrigue many NFL teams. He threw for 251 yards and three touchdowns in a loss at New England in place of an injured Aaron Rodgers late in the 2010 season. He then started the regular-season finale the following season, going 31 for 44 for 480 yards and six touchdown passes in a 45-41 win over D

Flynn will be the Seattle backup to rookie Russell Wilson after Seahawks coach Pete Carroll announced that Wilson will start the club's opener. Wilson being named the starter leaves Flynn on the sidelines and according to Carroll understandably disappointed.||||||| Flynn was Seattle's big free-agent splash in the offseason and the most highly sought after quarterback not named Manning after spending the last few seasons as Aaron Rodgers backup in Green Bay. But Flynn failed to show the same flashes as Wilson during his two preseason opportunities and sat out the game in Kansas City with a sore elbow. Fantasy owners have to be kicking themselves now if they picked up the overhyped Flynn.

Seattle coach Pete Carroll announced on Tuesday that Russell Wilson will start against Kansas City on Friday so there is speculation that Flynn could be the backup to the rookie.||||||| Flynn has struggled in the preseason and could easily lose the job that seemed to easily be his if he doesn't get his act together. Fantasy owners should monitor the situation closely.

Matt Flynn will get his second straight preseason start for the Seattle Seahawks with rookie Russell Wilson expected to play the second half on Saturday in Denver.||||||| Flynn was efficient, going 11 of 13 for 71 yards and an interception against Tennessee. Wilson was 12 of 16 for 124 yards, one touchdown passing and one rushing.

Flynn says it was made completely clear before he agreed to join the Seattle Seahawks that he was going into an open competition with incumbent Tarvaris Jackson for the starting quarterback job.||||||| Flynn said during a conference call on Monday that when he visited with the Seahawks late last week, the entire situation felt comfortable and felt like the team was moving in the right direction. Flynn chose the Pacific Northwest over the chance to be reunited with former Green Bay offensive coordinator Joe Philbin in Miami, where Philbin is the Dolphins' new head coach.
