A person with knowledge of the surgery says Ingram underwent an arthroscopic procedure on his knee.||||||| The surgery was performed Thursday, the person says on condition of anonymity because the team has not announced it. The prognosis is for Ingram to return well before training camps open at the end of July. He gained 474 yards on 122 carries and scored five touchdowns rushing for the Saints last season.

The Saints have placed Ingram on injured reserve, ending his season.||||||| Ingram, who won the 2009 Heisman Trophy at Alabama, missed New Orleans' last four games because of a sprained toe on his left foot. Coach Sean Payton says the injury got worse during practice last week and basically ensured he wouldn't be able to catch up in time to contribute this season. Ingram carried 122 times for 474 yards and five touchdowns this season. His longest run was a 35-yard touchdown against the New York Giants on Nov. 28.

Ingram has returned from a heel injury and will be active Sunday against Atlanta.||||||| Ingram leads the Saints with 329 yards and three touchdowns on 85 carries this season. As a result, the Saints will move running back Chris Ivory from the physically unable to perform list to the 53-man active roster, coach Sean Payton said Friday.
