Barber has told the Bear's website that he plans to retire.|||||||
His decision comes one day after Michael Bush signed a four-year, $14 million contract to be part of a backfield that includes disgruntled Pro Bowl running back Matt Forte. The 28-year-old Barber spent his first six NFL seasons with the Dallas Cowboys before signing with the Bears in 2011. He was a backup to Forte last season and then saw extensive duty when Forte was injured in early December.
The Chicago Bears will be without Barber at Minnesota on Sunday.|||||||

Barber went out of bounds when the Bears were trying to run out the clock and also lost a key fumble late in the game, almost single handedly costing them the win. Despite the blunders, he posted solid fantasy numbers and clearly has the upper hand over Kahlil Bell in Chicago's backfield.

Barber caught an 8-yard pass from Jay Cutler, then ran for 2 yards on the next play on third-and-1 to pick up a first down just before the end of the first quarter. It wasn't clear exactly how he was hurt.
