Stroud, a three-time Pro Bowler, is retiring after a decade in the NFL.||||||| Stroud is planning to sign a one-day contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Wednesday before calling it quits. A first-round draft pick from Georgia in 2001, Stroud spent seven years in Jacksonville. Teamed with John Henderson, Stroud gave the Jaguars one of the most formidable defensive fronts in football between 2002 and 2006. Stroud had 274 tackles and 22 sacks with the Jaguars and was voted a Pro Bowl starter in 2003, 2004 and 2005.

Stroud, released by the Buffalo Bills last month, will stay in the AFC East. On Tuesday, he signed a two-year deal with the New England Patriots, according to ESPN.com. Stroud, 32, is a former first-round pick out of Georgia by the Jacksonville Jaguars. He will enter his 11th season in the NFL, and has been to three Pro Bowls.||||||| Stroud, at 6-foot-6 and 310 pounds, didn't fit in the with Bills' plans, long term. He struggled in their switch from a 4-3 scheme to a 3-4 last season. For his career, he has 29.5 sacks and 39 passes defensed. Though the Patriots have not officially announced the move, Stroud did accept congratulations from former teammates on Twitter.

The Buffalo Bills have released Stroud in a move that frees up salary and playing time for the team's developing players.||||||| The move was not considered a surprise after the 10-year NFL veteran struggled in making the transition in Buffalo's switch to a 3-4 defensive scheme. Stroud was scheduled to make $10 million in base salary over the final two years of his contract, including $4.5 million next season.
