Lewis should know later this week whether he will be able to play against the New York Jets.||||||| Lewis injured his right calf in Sunday's opener against Tennessee. He initially thought it was a cramp and got intravenous fluids before determining it was a strained muscle. He sat out practice Wednesday and probably will do the same Thursday.

Lewis has signed a five-year contract worth about $35 million with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He will get nearly $17 million guaranteed.||||||| The Jaguars placed the franchise tag on Lewis after he caught 58 passes for 700 yards and 10 touchdowns - all career highs - in 2010. The 6-foot-6, 262-pounder signed a one-year tender worth $7.28 million, the average salary of the five highest-paid tight ends in the league. The NFL lockout prevented Lewis' agent and the Jaguars from working out a long-term deal, and Lewis skipped the first five days of training camp while waiting for a new deal before reporting Monday.

Lewis has ended his holdout and reported to Jacksonville's training camp.||||||| Lewis passed his physical Monday morning and attended a walkthrough with teammates. But he won't take part in any full-contact drills until he has a new contract, a deal he worked out with coach Jack Del Rio. The Jaguars placed the franchise tag on Lewis, who caught 58 passes for 700 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2010. Lewis signed a one-year tender worth $7.28 million this season, but both sides have been negotiating a long-term deal.
