Saints general manager Mickey Loomis says New Orleans and unrestricted free agents, defensive end Kenyon Coleman and McCown, have agreed to terms on one-year contracts.|||||||
McCown, 6-4, 217-pounds, is a former fourth-round selection of the Cleveland Browns who went to training camp with the Saints last season. McCown, a former Louisiana Tech standout, has played in 22 NFL games with nine starts in stints with Cleveland, Tampa Bay, Jacksonville and Atlanta. He has completed 184 of 316 passes for 2,035 yards with nine touchdowns and 14 interceptions.
The Atlanta Falcons have released backup quarterback Chris Redman and signed McCown.|||||||
McCown spent the past three seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars, making two starts among his eight appearances. He worked with Dirk Koetter, who is now the Falcons' offensive coordinator, which undoubtedly contributed to the decision to bring in a new No. 2 behind starter Matt Ryan on Tuesday.
Jags coach Jack Del Rio will turn the starting job over to Luke McCown, who outplayed David Garrard and rookie Blaine Gabbert in the preseason.|||||||
McCown completed 12 of 18 passes for 133 yards, with two touchdowns, no interceptions and no sacks. Fantasy players should not trust the journeyman with rookie Blaine Gabbert waiting in the wings.

McCown tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee at San Diego on Sunday. McCown replaced benched starter David Garrard in the fourth quarter and injured his knee on a 4-yard scramble with less than a minute remaining. Garrard came back in and threw a touchdown pass to Mike Sims-Walker that made it 38-13.
McCown has passed his physical with the Jacksonville Jaguars, prompting the team to cut veteran backup Todd Bouman. The moved was announced on Sunday.|||||||
Jacksonville traded an undisclosed draft pick in 2010 to Tampa Bay on Saturday night in exchange for McCown. He is 1-6 as a starter, has completed 59.7 percent of his passes, and has nine touchdown passes and 10 interceptions.
