The San Diego Chargers have placed Castillo on injured reserve.|||||||
Castillo broke his left leg in the season opener on Sept. 11 and the Chargers kept him on the active roster in the hope he'd be healed toward the end of the season. He didn't.

The Chargers are keeping him on the roster in hopes he'll return faster than the 12 weeks expected and can help them down the stretch. Vaughn Martin could see more playing time.

Castillo was the second of the Chargers' two first-round draft picks in 2005. He has 13 sacks in 36 career games, including 33 starts.
Castillo was taken to the locker room for attention after being blocked in the ribs on a first-quarter passing play during the Chargers' playoff game at Indianapolis on Sunday.|||||||
He returned after only missing a few plays and doesn't appear to be bothered by the injury.
Castillo (ankle) is also trying to get back on the field. He's been out since early November and has been shooting for Monday night for his return.|||||||
