Polite, 30, joined the Patriots on Dec. 27 and played in the regular-season finale against Buffalo and all three postseason games. He had one carry for three yards. Polite played three seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, one with the Chicago Bears and three with Miami. He went to training camp with the Dolphins in 2011 but was released. He spent most of last season without a team.

The 30-year-old Polite has played for Dallas (2004-06), Chicago (2007) and Miami (2008-10). He went to training camp with the Dolphins last summer but was released on Sept. 3. Originally a rookie free agent out of Pittsburgh in 2004, Polite has played in 75 NFL games with 27 starts and has 95 rushing attempts for 296 yards with one touchdown. He also has 41 receptions for 233 yards and one touchdown.
Polite signed a one-year contract with the Cowboys on Thursday. The 24-year-old fullback played in 14 games last season, starting three. He had two carries for eight yards and nine receptions for 72 yards and one touchdown. Polite also spent extensive time on special teams.|||||||
