The Giants on Tuesday confirmed the signing of the speedy receiver who played last season with Carolina. The five-year veteran has 115 receptions for 1,707 yards and seven touchdowns, including 25 catches with the Panthers in 2012. Murphy was Oakland's fourth-round draft choice in 2009. As a rookie, he scored four touchdowns.
Murphy had six receptions for 59 yards with a touchdown in Sunday's loss to Jacksonville.|||||||

Coach Tom Cable says Murphy will not return until he passes a series of tests that shows he has recovered. Murphy is being counted on heavily in his second year in the NFL. He led all Raiders wideouts with 34 catches for 521 yards and four touchdowns as a rookie last season.
