Coach Ken Whisenhunt revealed the extent of the injury at his Saturday news conference, saying the five-year starter will require surgery, with an anticipated recovery time that would approach the end of the season. Brown was injured in the first half of Arizona's 31-27 preseason victory over the Oakland Raiders on Friday night.
The Arizona Cardinals have agreed to terms on a five-year contract with Levi Brown just three days after he was released by the team in a salary cap move. Brown, the fifth overall draft pick in 2007, was cut loose because he would count nearly $17 million on this year's salary cap.|||||||
Brown has been a starter since his rookie season, moving from right to left tackle in 2010. While he has struggled at times, he was praised by coach Ken Whisenhunt for improvement as Arizona finished last season 7-2. He is the second offensive lineman to agree to terms with the Cardinals this week. Free agent guard-tackle Adam Snyder did so on Wednesday.

Brown, who started 75 games in five seasons with Arizona, has a contract that would have counted nearly $17 million against the team's cap for the coming season. The move was expected regardless of whether the Cardinals are able to lure quarterback Peyton Manning. However, with Brandon Keith a free agent, the team is without both of its starting tackles from last year. Arizona made Brown the fifth overall player taken in the 2007.
