Naanee broke a small bone in his right foot during Saturday's 48-16 win over Tampa Bay and is done for the season.|||||||
Naanee started 10 games this season for the Panthers, with 44 receptions for 467 yards and one touchdown. Coach Ron Rivera says the injury occurred as Naanee was trying to stretch for a touchdown and his foot got stuck in the grass.

Naanee is a 6-foot-2, 220-pound receiver who was drafted by the Chargers from Boise State in 2007. He spent four years in San Diego, where Rivera was defensive coordinator and Panthers offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski coached tight ends. Naanee had 63 receptions in four seasons with the Chargers. He had 23 catches a year ago despite missing six games with hamstring problems.

Indianapolis police say the 27-year-old player cursed at officers and refused repeated requests to walk away from an area officers had taped off to investigate a slaying shortly before 3:30 a.m. Saturday. A police report says officers had to use pepper spray and knee strikes to subdue Naanee so he could be handcuffed and that he smelled of alcohol. Naanee's agent, Andrew "Buddy" Baker, did not immediately return calls seeking comment Tuesday.
