English was placed on season-ending injured reserve Wednesday with a broken left foot.||||||| It’s the latest setback for English, who hasn’t lived up to being the team’s 2009 first-round draft pick. He had surgery on the same foot last year.

The San Diego Chargers has signed first-round pick English to a five-year contract.||||||| English was the 16th overall pick in April. He is expected to join the team in time for Saturday's training-camp practice at Chargers Park. The 6-foot-2, 255-pound linebacker is from Northern Illinois.
