Louis, still rehabilitating from a season-ending knee injury last November, has signed with the Miami Dolphins.|||||||
The 6-foot-3, 320-pound Louis spent the past four seasons with the Chicago Bears, where he made 28 starts at guard and tackle. They drafted him in the seventh round in 2009. Louis tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and missed the final five games of the season.
Louis will miss the remainder of the season because of a knee injury, a big blow to a struggling offensive line. The team placed him on injured reserve on Monday, a day after he was hurt in the 28-10 victory over Minnesota.|||||||
Louis was injured early in the third quarter on what Bears coach Lovie Smith says was an unnecessary hit by the Vikings' Jared Allen. It happened after Chicago's Brandon Marshall tipped a pass from Jay Cutler. The Vikings' Antoine Winfield picked it off, and as he returned the interception, Allen launched himself at Louis for a blindside hit to the head. His left leg buckled as he crashed to the ground.
Louis has been sentenced to 40 hours of community service and anger management classes for an altercation that happened while he was playing at San Diego State. Louis was also sentenced to three years of informal probation and a $565 fine as part of his plea deal with the San Diego City Attorney's Office after pleading guilty Friday to misdemeanor assault.|||||||
Authorities say Louis assaulted SDSU teammate Nick Sandford in a team meeting room last fall. Sandford suffered a concussion, broken eardrum and fractured cheekbone. The Bears have said they were aware of the incident before they drafted Louis. He could be subject to discipline under the NFL's personal conduct policy.
