Briggs unloaded on the Packers a day after teammate Brandon Marshall did the same thing, saying he's no fan of Green Bay and that Jermichael Finley is "an idiot."|||||||
Marshall went off on Wednesday, saying he's never disliked a team as much as the Packers. Briggs backed that up a day later, saying his feelings are "very similar." He really took issue with Finley for telling FOXSportsWisconsin.com the Bears might be better off with linebacker Brian Urlacher sidelined by a hamstring injury. The Packers tight end was quoted as saying Chicago is not "losing too much if he's out." Briggs responded, "He's an idiot."

The Chicago Bears have agreed to a one-year contract extension with Lance Briggs, keeping the Pro Bowl linebacker through the 2014 season. The Bears announced the deal on Wednesday. Financial terms were not immediately released.|||||||
Briggs pushed hard for a new contract at the start of last season, but the Bears wouldn't budge. With three years left on a six-year, $36 million contract, general manager Jerry Angelo basically told Briggs at the time to leave him alone when the linebacker asked for permission to seek a trade if he couldn't get a renegotiated deal before the season. Angelo was fired after an 8-8 finish and he has been replaced by Phil Emery.
Briggs says a gap between players and management is affecting team morale. Briggs tells Comcast SportsNet Chicago "there's a big transition going on right now in Chicago" and that "players and the management are not seeing eye-to-eye on a lot of different issues and a lot of different players' situations." He made the comments Tuesday for a show that airs Thursday night.|||||||

Running back Matt Forte wants a new deal, and safety Chris Harris requested a trade before Tuesday's deadline after being held out of last week's game against Minnesota. Briggs says the issues take "away from wanting to go out on the field and just play."
