Williams can't believe the New York Giants weren't punished by the NFL for targeting him in last year's NFC championship game. The punt returner whose mistakes cost the 49ers a chance to make the last Super Bowl, and who will miss Sunday's game with an injured left knee, says Wednesday he is "shocked" that the Giants escaped discipline.||||||| He wonders why the NFL clamped down so heavily on the Saints during the bounty scandal, yet New York linebacker Jacquain Williams and receiver Devin Martin were not punished after admitting they went after Williams. Williams says "the only thing crazy to me was that nothing came of it after they came down so much on the Saints."

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver and return man Kyle Williams says he will miss the rest of the season with a torn ligament in his left knee sustained in Sunday's win at New Orleans. Williams posted on his Twitter account Monday that he has a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. Surgery would be the likely next step.||||||| Williams and running back Kendall Hunter both were hurt on the same play during the second half of Sunday's 31-21 win over the Saints. Both were helped off the field and were soon after taken by cart to the locker room. They were injured on a running play in which Hunter carried the ball for a 2-yard gain late in the third quarter.

The San Francisco 49ers were are without two wide receivers for the regular season finale, with wide receiver and return man Ted Ginn Jr. sidelined by an ankle injury and Kyle Williams out with a concussion.||||||| Neither practiced all week. Brett Swain, who entered Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams with one reception, starts for Ginn. Wide receiver Joe Hastings was promoted from the practice squad.
