A person with knowledge of the decisions says the Dallas Cowboys have agreed to deals with quarterback Kyle Orton and cornerback Brandon Carr. The person spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because the team had not yet announced Wednesday's deals.|||||||
Orton, who finished last season in Kansas City after being released by Denver, has agreed to a three-year deal to be Tony Romo's backup. Jon Kitna, Romo's primary backup the last two years, retired after last season.
Orton got his revenge in leading the Kansas City Chiefs over the Broncos 7-3 on Sunday. He was 15 of 29 for 180 yards and no turnovers.|||||||
Orton had laid low all week but he finally `fessed up after the game that this game had special meaning to him even though it was for pride and payback and not the playoffs. "I can't hide that," he said. "But I congratulate those guys. They're in. I congratulate them and I look forward to next year." Orton could earn the permanent job for KC in 2012.
An attorney says a class-action lawsuit naming Orton as a plaintiff was also filed on behalf of around 20 NFL players.|||||||
The lawsuit filed this week in Cook County Circuit Court claims bad financial advice from the law firm Chuhak & Tecson cost Orton and the other players millions of dollars related to energy investments.

The Chiefs were forced to turn to Palko after Matt Cassel suffered a season-ending injury to his throwing hand, and the results so far haven't been good. Palko threw three interceptions in each of his first two starts and committed seven turnovers in all during that stretch. Kansas City claimed Orton, the former Bear, on Nov. 23 after Denver waived him. Chicago and Dallas also put in claims, but the Chiefs got him because they have a worse record.
