The Detroit Lions have agreed to a one-year deal with Smith.|||||||
The Lions signed Smith last season while running back Jahvid Best was out with a concussion and after rookie Mikel Leshoure tore his left Achilles tendon. Smith ran for a career-high 140 yards and scored a career-high three touchdowns in a November win over Carolina, two weeks after he was without a job.
Smith had six carries for 21 yards for Detroit in Saturday's 45-28 loss at New Orleans.|||||||
Smith also had two catches for 20 yards. The Lions must run the ball better in the postseason in the future.
Smith and tight end Tony Scheffler have collided at practice. Smith was coming out of the end zone and Scheffler was running a route toward the same end zone when they hit each other hard Wednesday.|||||||
The 6-1, 217-pound Smith was laying on his stomach for some time before slowly standing up and limping a few steps.Smith is a starter and Scheffler is also a key player in Detroit's offense.
