Kolb has arrived in Buffalo to officially sign his two-year contract with the Bills. The Bills announced the signing Monday, a little over a week after the free agent agreed to a two-year contract potentially worth more than $12 million.|||||||
The sixth-year player spent the past two seasons in Arizona, where injuries hampered his opportunity to prove himself as a starter. He was cut by the Cardinals last month in a salary-cap saving move. In Buffalo, he gets the opportunity to compete for the starting job with Tarvaris Jackson. The Bills are in need of a starter after Ryan Fitzpatrick was released last month.
The Cardinals have released Kolb, ending the quarterback's two injury-filled seasons with the team.|||||||
The team's move on Friday came just ahead of the deadline for paying Kolb a $2 million roster bonus. The team paid Kolb some $20 million over two seasons after acquiring him in a trade that sent a second-round draft pick and cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Kolb has missed six games with a rib injury.

Kolb was beat out for the starting job in the preseason by John Skelton, a third-year pro from Fordham who went down late in the opener against Seattle with an ankle injury. Kolb came on to direct the winning touchdown drive against the Seahawks and helped the team get off to a 4-0 start. But Kolb went out with a rib injury against Buffalo and had not been able to return.
Kolb was sacked nine times in Thursday's 17-3 loss to the Rams.|||||||
Kolb got his helmet knocked off twice on hits, once after getting popped in the jaw. He described the Cardinals' first-half woes as "sickening." He finished 28 of 50 for 289 yards.
