The Oakland Raiders have signed free agent linebacker Kevin Burnett, continuing their offseason makeover of the defense. Burnett is the third linebacker signed by the Raiders in the past week. General manager Reggie McKenzie had earlier signed Kaluka Maiava from Cleveland and Nick Roach from Chicago.||||||| Burnett, whose brother Kaelin is also on Oakland's roster, spent the past two seasons with Miami and has started 59 games over eight years. He had a career-high 110 tackles and 2 1/2 sacks in 2012. Burnett, a second-round draft pick by Dallas in 2005, spent four seasons with Dallas and two in San Diego before signing with the Dolphins.

Veteran Kevin Burnett signed Saturday with the Miami Dolphins as a replacement for Channing Crowder at inside linebacker.||||||| Burnett, a second-round draft pick by Dallas in 2005, spent four seasons with the Cowboys as a reserve and the past two seasons with San Diego. He started seven games in 2009 and all 16 games last year, when he had 80 tackles, six sacks and two interceptions.

Burnett wasn't fined for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Rams QB Sam Bradford because the quarterback was scrambling outside the pocket and therefore considered a runner.||||||| There was no penalty on the play.
