The Chiefs have put tight end Kevin Boss on injured reserve after doctors determined they would not clear him to play this season following a head injury sustained in Week 2. Chiefs coach Romeo Crennel announced the move Wednesday, along with the signing of former Rams linebacker Bryan Kehl to provide some depth on defense.||||||| Boss signed a $9 million, three-year contract in the offseason to provide Kansas City with a versatile tight end for quarterback Matt Cassel, particularly with Tony Moeaki coming off a torn left ACL. Boss caught three passes for 65 yards and a touchdown before getting hurt at Buffalo.

Kansas City tight end Kevin Boss has taken a shot to the head following a second-quarter catch and will not return to Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills.||||||| After catching a 29-yard pass from Matt Cassel, Boss was falling down when Buffalo's Da'Norris Searcy's forearm hit the back of Boss' head. The receiver's head then hit the ground hard. Boss stayed down for a few minutes before walking off the field under his own power. He sat on the bench for a few minutes, and was then escorted off the field.

One day after signing bruising running back Peyton Hillis, Kansas City added veteran tight end Kevin Boss, who spent last season with the AFC West rival Oakland Raiders.||||||| Boss said during a conference call with reporters Friday that he was intrigued by the young players on offense - among them running back Jamaal Charles and fellow tight end Tony Moeaki - along with a defense that emerged as one of the best in the AFC last season. Boss signed a $16 million, four-year deal with Oakland last summer, but he wasn't utilized as much as with the New York Giants. He only caught 28 passes for 368 yards and three touchdowns.

Boss sure has picked the perfect game to make his regular season debut with the Oakland Raiders after sitting out the past two weeks with a knee sprain.||||||| With a rare sold-out crowd for the team's home opener - just the second in the last 16 games at the Coliseum - and a national television audience, Boss expects the atmosphere to equal anything he experienced while playing with the New York Giants. Boss, the Raiders' most significant offseason acquisition, completed a full week of practice for the first time since being injured in a preseason game against San Francisco on Aug. 20. He was cleared by the team's doctors.
