Saints general manager Mickey Loomis says New Orleans and unrestricted free agents, Coleman and quarterback Luke McCown, have agreed to terms on one-year contracts.|||||||
The 6-foot-5, 293-pound Coleman has spent the last two seasons as a starting defensive end in Dallas' 3-4 alignment. He will rejoin new Saints defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, who held the same position with the Cowboys during Coleman's time in Dallas.
Coleman was traded to the Browns, along with safety Abram Elam, quarterback Brett Ratliff and two draft picks, in a deal that allowed the New York Jets to move up in the draft to select USC quarterback Mark Sanchez.|||||||
Coleman, who will be entering his eighth season, led all 3-4 defensive ends in tackles last season. He should be a good fit in the Browns' defensive scheme.
The New York Jets signed the defensive end. Coleman has played five seasons in the NFL and saw time in all 16 games with Dallas last season. He spent four seasons with Dallas after playing in Oakland as a rookie.|||||||
In 2006, Coleman had four sacks and recorded 31 tackles.
