Ellis will not be suspended by the NFL after the league completed its review of his legal situation following his guilty plea to misdemeanor assault and battery.||||||| Ellis was sentenced to 45 days in a Virginia prison in May after a fight while in college at Hampton University in 2010. By entering an Alford plea, he didn't admit guilt but acknowledged that prosecutors could prove the case against him. Under an agreement with the court, the 2011 third-round draft pick was granted a split-sentence - 23 days in prison before the season, and the remaining 22 beginning next March 1.

Ellis will split his jail sentence for assault and battery stemming from a 2010 fight while attending college in Virginia, a move that will allow him to make training camp.||||||| Under an agreement with the court, Ellis will report to jail Friday night and remain in custody until July 9. He will then serve the remainder of his 45-day sentence beginning March 1.

Ellis is expected to report to a Virginia prison on Friday. He will start serving a likely 45-day jail sentence after pleading guilty last month to assault and battery stemming from a 2010 fight while attending college at Hampton University.||||||| Ellis is expected to miss only a few days of training camp next month while finishing his sentence. Coach Rex Ryan says he has spoken to Ellis about the situation, and believes the third-round pick in 2011 will come back and make a big impact on the Jets' defense.

Ellis has pleaded guilty to assault and battery stemming from a 2010 fight while attending college in Virginia. He was sentenced to 179 days in jail, with 89 suspended. His attorney said Ellis likely would serve 45 days when he reports to jail on June 15.||||||| Ellis originally faced a felony malicious wounding charge from the fight at Hampton University and faced up to 20 years in prison if convicted. Before court, he was served with a $3 million lawsuit from the victim, Dennis Eley. The Jets selected Ellis in the third round of the 2011 draft.
