Clemens or No. 3 quarterback Tom Brandstater could start Monday night with the Rams' top two quarterbacks injured.||||||| Clemens split duties Friday with No. 3 quarterback Tom Brandstater, who did not take any reps with the first team Saturday. Clemens caught coach Steve Spagnuolo's eye with his practice performance. "I'll tell you what, I am thoroughly impressed with the command in the huddle and spitting out the verbiage and just some little things I saw in there," Spagnuolo said. "He did a nice job with it."

Clemens, a restricted free agent, has signed his tender with the New York Jets.||||||| Clemens tells The Associated Press in an e-mail Tuesday that he signed it Monday, giving the Jets four quarterbacks on their roster. The 2006 second-round draft pick had hoped to find a starting opportunity elsewhere during the offseason. He has competed for the Jets' starting job the last few years, but his future with the Jets is as a backup behind Mark Sanchez. New York also has Erik Ainge and Kevin O'Connell on its roster.

Clemens was effective as a game manager against against Tampa Bay on Saturday, passing for 111 yards in the win.||||||| It was his first start with the Jets in two years as he filled in for the injured Mark Sanchez. He went 12 of 23 and didn't have a touchdown, but also didn't throw an interception.

Clemens is making his first start for the New York Jets in two years, filling in for injured rookie Mark Sanchez against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Sanchez sprained his right knee during a victory over Buffalo last week.||||||| Clemens' last start was Dec. 30, 2007, against Kansas City.
