Rivers has signed a new one-year deal with the New York Giants.||||||| Rivers, a former first-round pick of the Cincinnati Bengals, was traded to New York for a fifth-round pick on April 11, 2012. He missed five games with the Giants because of a slow-healing hamstring injury. Rivers, 27, has never played a full season, and sat out all of 2011 with the Bengals after undergoing wrist surgery.

The Bengals traded linebacker Keith Rivers to the New York Giants on Thursday for a fifth-round draft pick, ending his four-year stay in Cincinnati marred by frequent injuries.||||||| Rivers missed all last season recovering from surgery on his right wrist. He's been limited to 35 games in four seasons. The Bengals made Rivers the ninth overall pick in the 2008 draft and installed him as a starter. He broke his jaw on a hit by Steelers receiver Hines Ward in the seventh game and missed the rest of his rookie season. He missed time the next two seasons because of calf and foot injuries.

The Bengals got a three-week roster exemption that allowed him to work out with the team. The exemption ended on Tuesday, and Cincinnati decided to leave him on the injury list, ruling out a return this season. Rivers was the ninth overall pick in 2008. Rivers was scheduled for surgery Monday to set his broken jaw, an injury that will end his season.||||||| The rookie linebacker was hurt when Steelers receiver Hines Ward leveled him with a straight-up block during Pittsburgh's 38-10 victory on Sunday. Rivers walked off the field without assistance and went for tests that detected the fracture. Rivers had started every game and was the Bengals' second-leading tackler for the season when he was hurt.
