The Jaguars released Osgood on Tuesday.|||||||
Osgood is a three-time Pro Bowler on special teams and should catch on somewhere.
Osgood leapt out a second-floor window to escape a gun-wielding man who attacked him and a 19-year-old woman. According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, the armed intruder exchanged gunfire with his ex-girlfriend, Mackenzie Rae Putnal, after putting a gun to her head on Monday night.|||||||
Police say Osgood, 30, sustained some minor bruises during the attack and while fleeing. Coach Jack Del Rio says, "He's fine. I'm aware of it. I really can't comment on that whole deal. He's doing OK."
Osgood signed a four-year contract with the Chargers on Friday. Financial terms were not disclosed. The special teams standout and reserve wide receiver led San Diego with 19 special teams tackles before suffering a torn pectoral muscle in a Dec. 4 game. He had just two catches for 21 yards this season.|||||||
Tests have revealed that Osgood has a torn pectoral muscle, an injury suffered in Sunday's win over the Oakland Raiders. According to Chargers head coach Marty Schottenheimer, the receiver will undergo surgery in the near future and miss the rest of the season. He will be placed on injured reserve.|||||||
The majority of Osgood's playing time has come on special teams this season, giving him no fantasy value. For the year, he had just two catches for 21 yards.
Osgood has re-signed with the San Diego Chargers, agreeing to a one-year contract. The receiver appeared in all 16 of the team's regular-season contests in 2004, finishing the year with 15 catches for 308 yards and two touchdowns. He also saw extensive action on special teams.|||||||
Osgood is expected to fill a similar role with the Chargers next season. He'll likely end up as the teams third or fourth wideout.
