The Tennessee Titans have agreed to terms with defensive end Kamerion Wimbley on a multi-year deal, wasting little time after being rejected by Peyton Manning. Terms of Tuesday's deal were not announced.||||||| General manager Ruston Webster said in a statement he liked Wimbley coming out of Florida State as a defensive end in a 4-3 defense, a role Wimbley will play for the Titans. The 6-foot-4 Wimbley has 42.5 career sacks. The 13th pick overall in 2006 had 11 sacks as a rookie in Cleveland. He had 16 sacks in 32 games as a linebacker in Oakland the past two seasons before being released last week.

The Oakland Raiders have told linebacker Kamerion Wimbley they will release him one year into a $48 million, five-year deal. Agent Joe Linta said in an email Friday that he was unable to work out a new contract with general manager Reggie McKenzie so the Raiders decided to cut Wimbley instead.||||||| Oakland gave Wimbley the big contract last summer. He got paid $5 million in 2011 and is still guaranteed an additional $6.5 million from the Raiders. The team would have been on the hook for $4.5 million more in 2012 if Wimbley was on the roster Saturday, as well as an additional $13 million in guaranteed money for the rest of the deal. Wimbley had seven sacks, 21.5 quarterback knockdowns and 9.5 hurries last season, according to STATS LLC.

The Oakland Raiders have used the franchise tag to keep Wimbley under contract for 2012||||||| The Raiders originally hoped to use a $3.5 million buyback option to keep Wimbley under contract for next season. But Linta says that deal violated the NFL's rules prohibiting base salaries rising more than 30 percent in a year. That led to the Raiders decision to use the franchise tag, which is projected to be worth about $10 million. Linta says Wimbley is open to negotiating a long-term deal to stay in Oakland.
