The Detroit Lions have signed Miller and released linebacker Doug Hogue. Detroit made the roster moves before playing Monday night on the road against the Chicago Bears.||||||| Miller hasn't played in the NFL since 2009 when he played in one game for the New York Jets and one with Oakland. Miller had a shot to help Detroit's weak secondary when the season started, but he was among the Lions' final cuts Aug. 31.The Jets drafted Miller in the second round of the 2005 draft and he played in 16 games in each of his first two seasons, making 13 starts without an interception.

The Jets have waived former Pro Bowl cornerback-kick returner Justin Miller a month after re-signing him.||||||| Miller played in one game for New York, but was inactive the last two. There was some concern Miller lacked some of the explosiveness that made him a Pro Bowl pick in 2006. Special teams coordinator Mike Westhoff said Friday that he was "pretty sure" Miller would be active and return kicks Sunday against Carolina. He could be replaced by David Clowney, who returned one kick for 37 yards at New England on Sunday.

The New York Jets have re-signed Miller, acquiring a replacement for the injured Leon Washington on special teams.||||||| Miller was a second-round draft pick of the Jets in 2005, and made the 2007 Pro Bowl season after leading the AFC with a 30.1-yard average and two touchdowns on kickoffs. He was waived by the Jets last season and signed with Oakland, which re-signed him for one game before releasing him Nov. 11. Miller has a 26.2 career kickoff return average, and five returns for scores.

The New York Jets placed Pro Bowl kick returner-cornerback Justin Miller on injured reserve Tuesday because of a knee injury.||||||| In Miller's absence, the Jets are expected to use Leon Washington, Brad Smith and Wallace Wright as kick returners. Rookie Darrelle Revis has stepped in as the team's primary right cornerback, the spot Miller started at in four games last season. The nature and severity of the injury was not immediately known. The Jets were off Tuesday, and coach Eric Mangini is extremely tightlipped when it comes to injuries.

Miller was arrested early Sunday and charged with third-degree assault after a fight at a New York City nightclub. reported Sunday night that the 23-year-old Pro Bowl returner was arrested after allegedly punching a woman in a nightclub. He was apprehended following a police chase at 4:20 a.m. According to the report, police said Miller swung at a man, but hit the woman when the man ducked out of the way.||||||| In light of the NFL's new conduct policy, the Jets have already notified the commissioner's office of the situation. "We expect our players to adhere to the highest standards of conduct off the field and take any allegation of personal misconduct very seriously," the team said in a statement. "Until we've had an opportunity to review all the facts, we will refrain from further comment."
