Scobee has signed a four-year contract reportedly worth $13.8 million, making him one of the NFL's highest-paid kickers.||||||| Oakland's Sebastian Janikowski ($4 million annually) and Phil Dawson ($3.81 million) are the only kickers scheduled to make more than Scobee in 2012. His new deal tops recent ones signed by Tampa Bay's Connor Barth ($3.3 million) and Denver's Matt Prater ($3.25 million).

The Jacksonville Jaguars are committed to keeping place-kicker Josh Scobee. They placed the franchise tag on him Monday, a move that will keep the strong-legged veteran under contract for at least another season.||||||| General manager Gene Smith said the team wants to reach a long-term deal with Scobee. Both sides began preliminary talks last month, but they failed to reach an agreement before the franchise deadline Monday. "It is our goal to reach a long-term deal with him," Smith said in a statement. "Josh was drafted by the Jaguars and is someone that I have great respect for as a player and as a person."

Scobee is one of five full-time, NFL place-kickers who haven't missed this season. Scobee is 14 for 14 on field goals, including nine from beyond 40 yards, heading into Sunday's game at Houston.||||||| Scobee provided all of Jacksonville's scoring in a 12-7 victory against Baltimore on Monday night and became just the sixth player in NFL history to kick three field goals of 50 yards or longer in one game.

Scobee's 59-yard field goal on the final play gave the Jaguars a 31-28 victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.||||||| Scobee is a great athlete who is also a scratch golfer who nearly qualified for the U.S. Open. He proved it again when he made the eighth-longest field goal in NFL history and the longest in franchise history, sending Jacksonville fans into a frenzy.

Scobee, a scratch golfer, is trying to qualify for the U.S. Open. Scobee will tee off next Monday at Timuquana Country Club in Jacksonville for the first round of qualifying for the U.S. Open. Depending on the number of entrants, Scobee has to finish in the top five or top three to advance to sectional qualifying.||||||| Scobee says he expects butterflies in his first tournament, especially since he didn't play high school or college golf. Scobee, who wants a golf job once his NFL career is over, has played several times the last few weeks in hopes of honing his game.
