The Giants on Wednesday announced that they had signed 11-year veteran Josh Brown.||||||| The 34-year-old Brown played four games with Cincinnati last season after Mike Nugent was hurt. He also has played with Seattle and St. Louis, scoring more than 1,000 points. He joins former Dallas Cowboy David Buehler and first-year kicker Jake Rogers on the Giants' roster.

Brown connected on all four of his field goal tries for the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, including that 52-yarder in the third quarter of a 20-19 loss to Dallas. The Cowboys won it with a field goal of their own as time ran out.||||||| For Brown, it was a solid first step in trying to show the rest of the NFL that he's not finished. The 4-for-4 performance just might jump-start his career, even if it turns out to be his only game with Cincinnati. The Bengals needed a kicker on short notice when Mike Nugent hurt his right calf during practice last week.

The Bengals have signed kicker Brown to fill in for the injured Mike Nugent, who hurt his right calf and didn't practice Wednesday.||||||| Brown played five seasons with Seattle and four with St. Louis. He kicked for the Jets in preseason and was released on Aug. 27.

The Jets have cut Brown, giving Nick Folk the job after a tight competition.||||||| Brown, signed in May after being released by St. Louis, was 21 for 28 on field goals last season. The move Monday allows Brown to potentially hook on with another team before the end of the preseason schedule this week.
