The Chicago Bears and offensive tackle Jonathan Scott have agreed to a one-year contract.|||||||
The 6-foot-6, 318-pound Scott signed with the Bears last September and appeared in 12 games while making seven starts - six at right tackle. He has started 35 of 70 games played for Detroit (2006-07), Buffalo (2009), Pittsburgh (2010-11) and Chicago (2012) after being drafted in the fifth round by the Lions in 2006. He was let go by Pittsburgh last July and picked up by Detroit, but he got released off injured reserve after suffering a knee injury.

The Bills said Saturday that Scott, sidelined by a sprained ankle the last three games, will be out for personal reasons. His absence could force the Bills to call on rookie Jamon Meredith or veteran backup Kirk Chambers. Meredith is nursing an injury of his own, having sprained his right knee in a game against the Texans on Nov. 1.

A fifth-round pick by Detroit in the 2006 draft out of Texas, Scott had six starts in 20 appearances over two seasons with the Lions before he was released in August. In college, he started his final 43 games and was an All-American in his senior season. Coach Dick Jauron said signing Scott allows the team to bolster its depth at tackle going into next season.
Scott was strapped to a board and taken off via motorized cart during the fourth quarter of Sunday's game at Dallas. The team said it was a hip injury.|||||||
