The Dallas Cowboys have put Kitna on injured reserve, ending the quarterback's 15th NFL season and possibly his career.The 39-year-old Kitna, in his third season as Tony Romo's backup, hasn't played since Nov. 13 because of a back injury.||||||| Kitna's most extensive action with Dallas came last season after Romo broke his collarbone. In 10 games, he threw for 2,365 yards with 16 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

If there's an NFL season, there could be a QB controversy in Dallas.||||||| TE Martellus Bennett told 103.3's Ben & Skin Show that he thinks the competition should be open in training camp between Kitna and Tony Romo. WR Roy Williams has also said that he enjoys playing with Kitna. It is unclear how this will affect Romo.

Kitna will be the starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys in their finale Sunday if his strained abdominal muscle heals enough.||||||| It probably won't, though, so second-year reserve Stephen McGee is likely to make his first career start. Coach Jason Garrett said Monday the Cowboys still believed Kitna gave them their best chance to beat Philadelphia. He's gone 4-5 since replacing Tony Romo.

Kitna completed 12 of 20 passes with one TD and two INTs in Saturday's 27-26 loss at Arizona.||||||| Kitna left with a hip injury so fantasy owners should monitor news from Cowboys camp this week to see if he plays in the finale for Dallas.
