Suspended Green Bay Packers defensive lineman Johnny Jolly has been arrested and charged with drug possession and tampering with evidence. Jolly remained in the Harris County jail Monday after being charged Saturday with possession of a compound containing codeine. Records show he also was charged with attempting to conceal the substance from investigators.||||||| Jolly received probation in April after pleading guilty to a 2008 charge of possessing codeine. The deal allowed a similar charge from March to be dropped. He was suspended indefinitely by the NFL in July 2010 and did not play for the Packers during their Super Bowl-winning season.

A judge sentenced Jolly to probation Thursday after he pleaded guilty to a 2008 drug possession charge in Houston in a plea deal with prosecutors.||||||| Jolly was accused of possessing at least 200 grams of codeine, a controlled substance, after being arrested outside a Houston club three years ago. He was charged again earlier this year with possession of codeine, but that count was dropped. As part of his sentence, Jolly will receive drug treatment at a facility in Houston run by former NBA player and coach John Lucas. He had faced up to 20 years in prison.

A judge has denied bond for Jolly after his latest arrest on a drug charge in Houston. Jolly did not appear in court during a brief hearing on Wednesday. His next hearing is set for April 20. Jolly was charged with possession of a controlled substance after being arrested early Friday morning.||||||| Police say officers found a bottle containing 600 grams of codeine and another containing an unidentified substance under the front seats of Jolly's car. Carl Moore, Jolly's attorney, says his client is innocent. Jolly was suspended by the NFL without pay for all of last season for violating the league's substance abuse policy related to a separate 2008 drug arrest in which officers said he also had codeine.

Jolly has been arrested on another drug charge in Houston.||||||| Houston police spokesman Victor Senties said Jolly was pulled over about 12:45 a.m. Friday. Senties said officers discovered a bottle containing 600 grams of codeine under the passenger's seat and another bottle with an unidentified substance in the driver's side door. Jolly was suspended by the NFL without pay for all of last season for violating the league's substance abuse policy. The ban stemmed from a separate drug arrest.

Jolly has made a deal with prosecutors that could result in the dismissal of a 2008 felony drug charge.||||||| Jolly was given pretrial diversion, a form of probation, during a court hearing Tuesday. The charge will be dismissed in a year if Jolly stays out of trouble and completes other terms of the agreement, including speaking to children and others about the dangers of drug use. Jolly was charged with having at least 200 grams of codeine after being arrested July 2008. In June, the NFL suspended Jolly without pay for the upcoming season and perhaps beyond.
