The Arizona Cardinals have released quarterback John Skelton, who started 17 games for the team over the past three seasons. The move on Monday came amid reports the team was trying to work out a trade to bring quarterback Carson Palmer from Oakland.|||||||
Skelton beat out Kevin Kolb for the starting job under then-coach Ken Whisenhunt in training camp last season. He was hurt in the opener and Kolb took over.
Skelton didn't do any favors for himself while getting the start on Sunday, going 11 of 22 for 74 yards with four interceptions and a lost fumble before being replaced by Ryan Lindley.|||||||
Lindley didn't fare much better in the embarrassing 58-0 defeat, going 8 of 17 for 59 yards and losing a fumble of his own.
Skelton will be back at starting quarterback when the Cardinals play the Seahawks Sunday in Seattle. Skelton threw for 306 yards with a TD and an INT in Sunday's 31-17 loss to Green Bay.|||||||
