The Denver Broncos are set to talk with free agent pass rushers Dwight Freeney and Abraham on Thursday, 48 hours after they submitted a new contract proposal to Elvis Dumervil.|||||||
Freeney, 33, and Abraham, 34, are both older and less productive than Dumervil, 29, but might make financial sense for the Broncos, who had to cut Dumervil last week to avoid paying him $12 million in 2013.
Abraham was released by the Falcons on Friday.|||||||
This was not a surprise move even though Abraham remains one of the league's top pass rushers. The Falcons were able to save money in their quest to get younger. Abraham has been the Falcons' only consistent pass rusher since being acquired from the New York Jets in 2006. At age 34, he led the team with 10 sacks but had to cut back on his snaps in a bid to stay healthy.
