Leonhard played in all 16 regular season games and had one start for Denver last year, finishing with two interceptions. He also returned 15 punts for 89 yards.
Leonhard practiced Tuesday for the first time since undergoing a right knee operation in December. The Broncos removed him from their PUP list and placed him on their 90-man roster. He participated in drills with other defensive backs but was held out of team drills.|||||||
Leonhard said he hopes he can practice in team portions when the Broncos return from a day off Thursday. He also said he'd like to play in one of Denver's final two preseason games, but he's sure the training staff will "protect me from myself" and take things slowly.
Leonhard received a chance to take a physical and meet with some former teammates, but not much else at Buffalo Bills training camp on Friday.|||||||
Coach Chan Gailey said he didn't watch the player's workout and did not meet with Leonhard during his two-day visit. Gailey then referred questions regarding Leonhard to general manager Buddy Nix. Leonhard is a seven-year veteran who spent the past three seasons emerging as a fan favorite with the New York Jets. His stint with the Jets ended this offseason, when the team did not re-sign him.

Leonhard underwent an MRI exam, which confirmed Monday what the Jets first feared when he went down on a tackle following and interception. It is the second straight year Leonhard has been lost for the season because of a devastating injury. Leonhard broke the same leg in a collision with teammate Patrick Turner during practice a little more than a year ago.
Leonhard was scheduled to have an MRI exam on his right knee Monday to determine the severity of the injury after being hurt making an interception in the second quarter of the Jets' 37-10 victory. Several teammates feared it could be a season-ending injury.|||||||
Leonhard was hurt when he intercepted a pass by Tyler Palko intended for Steve Breaston and the Chiefs wide receiver made a twisting tackle. Leonhard immediately reached for his leg in pain before being helped to the sideline by two trainers and carted into the locker room.
